|St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy works with The University of Chester to educate teachers through the School Direct programme.|
The intention of School Direct is for schools to recruit and educate candidates in subject and age phases most in need of employment and choose how the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme should be delivered in partnership with the University.
For 2016-2017 programmes at St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy are available in the following subjects :
There are two routes available via the School Direct programme. School Direct (Fee) and School Direct (Salaried).
School Direct (Fee) is open to all graduates and funded by tuition fees paid by the candidate.
The tuition fee for the School Direct course is £9000 but participants will be able to access student loans, and depending on subject and grade of degree, may be eligible for a bursary. For details of funding available for 2016/17 students or read more about it on the DfE Get into Teaching website
School Direct (Salaried) is open to graduates with three or more years’ career experience; candidates will be employed as an unqualified teacher with a salary subsidised by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL).
All School Direct places will lead to qualified teacher status (QTS) and may also lead to a post graduate certificate in education (PGCE) validated by the University.
Recruitment for St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy School Direct 2016/17 courses commences via UCAS on 27th October 2015.
