LORI JONES-PULLIN

Lori, who is in Y10, has just won a prestigious singing competition.

The competition, called ‘Starsearch’, was run by Signal Radio in conjunction with Newcastle College and held at their new performing arts facility.

The piece of music that made her the winner, was her own song for voice and piano called ‘Dreamer’. Lori won several prizes, including a cheque for £500, recording time in the College’s new recording studio, an interview (which is yet to be broadcast) on Signal 1 and the opportunity for our Academy to use the Newcastle College performing arts facility for one year.

Her time in the studio will be spent recording an E.P. of her own compositions. Next year, at the same competition, she will be the featured artist during the final itself.

The future looks bright and busy for Lori, not only is she continuing to study for her exams, she also sings to her own piano accompaniment at weekends in local venues and is in the final of the Stoke on Trent Vocal Artist competition being held in April.
