Safe Internet Letter to Parents

January 2015
Dear Parent(s)
I am writing to inform you about a very exciting project that we are running during January in partnership with the BBC.
As an academy we are always trying to find innovative opportunities to educate and develop our young people and recently applied to be the only school nationally to work on a project called “Be Smart” which will focus on “Safe Internet Practice”.
As recognised in the last Ofsted report, E safety and safe use of technology is a very important part of our curriculum. However, we realise that many students find themselves in difficult circumstances because of misuse or outside pressures.  Through this project we are hoping to raise the profile of Safe Internet Practice for all young people and highlight the fact that St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy is proactive in supporting the young people to be safe and thoughtful about their own practices.
The attached letter will explain some of the details about the “Be Smart” project.
We hope that you agree for your son/daughter to be involved.  The attached form will need to be competed and returned to form tutors by Friday 9th January 2015.
Yours faithfully
Mr C E Smith
