016 Dance performance at The Regent Theatre

Its been a busy new year for the Dance Department!

016 Dance performance at The Regent Theatre: The Y10 GCSE Dance students enjoyed opening the whole festival by performing their beautiful group dance piece on the huge professional stage at the Regent Theatre, Hanley as part of the 016 Dance Festival. The theme this year was 'sport in the city', inspired by Stoke on Trent's European City of Sort status for 2016. The students choreographed their group dance with help from their teachers Mrs Page and Mrs Walklate and used the physical skills and attributes, that an athlete requires for success, as their stimulus. The students were inspired by key physical skills such as; flexibility; stamina; control; strength and alignment and used the definitions of the terms to inspire creative dance movements and phrases. The students worked very hard during rehearsals and the final performance, performing extremely professionally, they were a credit to the school. The Y10s were joined in the festival by our 'Movin' Up!' Dance performance group of Y5 and Y6 students from our partner primaries, who also thoroughly enjoyed the whole event. A DVD and CD of photographs of the performances can be purchased at http://www.associatedluminosity.bigcartel.com
